Talon Rods is a Proud Sponsor of

Oregon Tuna Classic

The Oregon Tuna Classic (OTC) was founded in 2005 by a small group of compassionate anglers who wanted to turn their passion for fishing into a way to fight hunger in Oregon. What began as the “I Fish for Food” tournament has grown into one of the West Coast’s premier charitable fishing events.

Since its inception, the OTC has donated over 1,000,000 pounds of food to the Oregon Food Bank through tuna donations and monetary contributions. In 2023–2024 alone, the tournament donated 16,000 pounds of tuna and $105,000 to both the Oregon Food Bank and Ducks Unlimited, supporting hunger relief and conservation efforts.

The OTC event is held annually in Garibaldi, drawing 40–60 teams from across the Northwest, including Washington, Idaho, and California. The tournament weekend features Big Fish Friday, a full Saturday competition, dinner, raffles, and awards, hosting 500–600 attendees under the main event tents.

Beyond charitable giving, the Oregon Tuna Classic delivers meaningful economic impact to the coastal communities it visits, bringing anglers, families, volunteers, and spectators together for a shared purpose.

At Talon Rods, we love to help out this great cause and are proud to be a sponsor of this event. To learn more about this event, visit the Oregon Tuna Classic Webpage.
